My Laziness Is Hurting Me
Posted by adam on July 31, 2006 under TechnophobiaOk, this is just a quick reminder to all those who suffer from the same disease. (Hint: Most of you.) My partner’s blog is cooler than mine. I had blog envy right away. He only added a “blogs that link here” and a Technorati link, but that was enough to stir my primal “your cave is better than my cave” neurosis.
He then had the nerve to say, “Oh… I just edited the template.” (Immediately sparking fears of a) finding the template, b) which editor to use, and c) how to save it with out bringing down my entire site - which I could do switftly with reckless abandon - as he knows I am prone to do.)
But alas, managing the client that does this blog is not complicated, yet stupidly (and annoyingly so) I wasted 5 minutes of his valuable time as I was too lazy to research (myself, all on my own) how to make the link appear that says “Continue Reading” (hint: it was in the f$ng editing bar where I enter this text!)
So, there you have it, yet another example of the deep damage evil people who shall remain nameless have done by taking a once curious and smart user and weaning them off their own power and onto the large breast of ridiculously bad operating systems that encourage abdication of matters technical.
Now that we have evicted bad operating systems from our lives, I face the task of being a little geekier (yes, I said it, geekier!) so that fixing, tuning and pruning the machines in my office is not something that requires a $500 visit from some moron who knows less than I do about computers.
